HAPPY NEW YEAR - 2025
Welcome to a brand new year at Frugaldom, where frugal living for a good life of debt freedom and the ability to help our animal friends are our top priorities. We currently have 8 ponies (7 on site, 1 away for training), 2 goats and up to 6 feral cats in our care plus our rewilding project that supplements the feeding of the wildlife.
AIRE UPDATE
For the past few years, we have made our yard available to campervan or motorhome owners and van lifers, allowing anyone to pull in and park up for the night. This began in the wake of the COVID pandemic, initially as a temporary measure under licence of Dumfries and Galloway Council. After that, our licence was issued by an organisation named MotorhomeFun, via the campaigning group known as CAMpRA. Things changed again when this group established their own rally group, becoming known as CAMpRA Rally, who took over the licencing and exemption certificate applications - we are currently a stopover Aire under their banner. This certification is up for renewal on 31 March 2025, at which time we will close our site. Not renewing the certificate is a choice made freely by ourselves, based on the apparent lack of need for what we offer - it simply isn't a financially viable option for us to continue.
Sorry to all who have said they wanted to visit and haven't made it here for whatever reason and thank you to the handful of you who were kind enough to post reviews and recommendations. As a voluntarily run project, this will not impact on family or Friends of Frugaldom who visit, stopover, volunteer, help with wildlife surveillance or make use of the recreational huts - access and adequate yard parking will be maintained for you. For those who do still want to visit the Aire, we will remain open until 31 March 2025. Overnight parking payments can be left in the boxes or made via PayPal using the details posted at the yard.
For our www.ko-fi.com/Frugaldom members, these changes DO NOT AFFECT YOU. The only thing closing is the Aire, which has been open to the public for the past few years.
