Well Known Words of Wisdom

SEVEN WISE SAYINGS

  1. A mere lover of silver will not be satisfied with silver, neither any lover of wealth with income.
  2. If we have food and shelter, we will be satisfied with that. Those who long to be rich, however, stumble into temptation.
  3. Who of you that wants to build a tower does not first sit down and calculate the expense, to see if he has enough to complete it?
  4. Those who borrow are slaves to the money-lenders.
  5. The wicked one is borrowing and does not pay back, but the righteous one is showing favour and is making gifts.
  6. There is more happiness in giving than receiving.
  7. A young man I used to be, I have also grown old, and yet I have not seen anyone righteous left entirely, nor his offspring looking for bread.
Well-known words of wisdom, but how often do we get back to basics and understand their true meaning, despite their being so self-explanatory?

Frugal living, the quest to remain debt free and live the good life is what we all hope for in Frugaldom, but it is nothing new.

The basic concept has been around since biblical times. But what reminded me of this?

The September issue of 'Awake' magazine, handed to me across my frugal threshold by the Jehovah's Witnesses this afternoon, is all about, 'How to Manage Money'. And how about this for some 'divine inspiration'? 'The Watchtower', which accompanied it, carries an article about quail!

Just thought I would share that coincidence with you all.

  1. How to manage money is at the forefront of my mind at them moment, having had a foolish couple of months of complete and utter madness, and now having to figure out how to pay for such madness. Why now have I done this silly thing, when I no longer have any income of any kind I wonder? Never ran up debt on my credit card before, why start now?! A lesson learned, and a hard one at that!

Certainly I have found there is indeed very much pleasure received in giving. The quilt I have made for a friend is one example of this.

    Wonderful words of wisdom indeed.

  2. So glad you enjoyed the article; I did too, nodding with agreement at all the excellent advice. I get so much good information from people on the internet, but NOTHING beats our Creator's principles in the Bible.
